Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays! However, it can be easy to go into a sugar overload celebrating it. I thought I would share some fun, candy-free things that I included in my kids’ Valentine’s Baskets in case you all were needing last-minute ideas.

Socks

Socks are always a great option. You can find lots of cute, fuzzy ones this time of year, or you can find socks with their favorite characters on them. It is a good, practical gift to include.

Play-Doh

What kid doesn’t love play-doh? I included a small, individual size play-doh for both kids in their baskets. Each one comes with a small cookie cutter. This will be their first time getting any play-doh and I am excited to see their reactions. I plan on using the play-doh for my daughter’s school lessons as well. She can use them to make letters, shapes, or for counting.

Color Wonder Mess Free Coloring

These are always a favorite for me! While my daughter is old enough to know not to color on anything other than her paper, my son is still young enough that I would have to guide him to stay on his paper. I do not have to worry about him making a mess or drawing on anything with this mess-free option. It is also great to have for road trips!

Coloring Books & Crayons

I did also grab some coloring packs and crayons for both kids. My daughter would spend all day coloring if I would let her. I found a special pack of Colors of Kidness crayons for my daughter, and I bought some crayons for my son that would be easy for his little hands to hold.

Valentine Accessories

You can always find some fun Valentine accessories at Walmart. I found a heart shaped spinner that lights up for my daughter. I bought my son a rubber robot watch that lights up. They were both in the $1 section.

Miscellaneous

I finished their baskets with things that I thought they needed. I found a new pair of shoes for my son, and some jumbo lip balm for my daughter. And, while it is not candy, I did include one cookie for both of them that they could color and then eat. I had to include a small treat – it is Valentine’s Day after all.
