This past weekend, we were hosted by Inn at the Mill in Springdale, Arkansas. We have stayed here twice for our anniversary. It is such a beautiful place. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. It is in close proximity to just about anything you would want to do. We always enjoy staying here.

History

As I have mentioned before, my husband loves history, and the Johnson Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was first registered as a tax-paying business in 1835 and bears the distinction of being the longest running business in the state of Arkansas. In 1862, the Mill was partially burned down by retreating Confederate forces after the battle of Pea Ridge. It was reconstructed in 1867.

Over a century later, an architect by the name of James Lambeth began renovations to the property. This was Lambeth’s first project designed around an existing structure. The Inn at the Mill opened in 1992 and included eight suites: two in the hand-hewn beams of the old mill, and six in the New Wing.

Our Room

We had the pleasure of staying in the newly renovated building during this visit. The renovation produced 46 spacious guest rooms, including 8 specialty suites.

Our room was very spacious. It had a king size bed, a work area, flat-screen television, and a dresser. There was a safe, microwave, refrigerator, and closet close to the bathroom. Between the closet, shelves, and dresser, there was plenty of room for your clothes. The bed was very comfortable. Although, it is close to everything, it is still secluded enough that it is a quiet and relaxing place to stay.

Inn at the Mill is located near Arvest Stadium, the home of the Naturals. It is also in close proximity to several area attractions such as the Walton Performing Arts Center, the Fayetteville Historic District, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and much more! Their rooms are all smoke-free – offering free continental breakfast from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., free high-speed wireless Internet in all rooms, and free weekday newspaper & free local calls.

Outside

It is absolutely beautiful outside of the Inn. They have several water features that are so serene to watch. Our daughter enjoys watching the waterfall. There are plenty of areas to sit outside and take everything in.
