*All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

I am a huge Green Bay Packers fan. My family took a vacation to Green Bay when I was about 17 so I could experience training camp and watch a scrimmage at Lambeau Field. It was the best! So, a few years ago, when I heard that the Packers were honoring Brett Favre at Lambeau during half-time, I knew I had to be there. I also knew it would be an exciting trip for my husband since he had never been to an NFL game and they were playing his favorite team: the Cowboys. So the day before the game, we made the 11-hour drive to Manitowoc.

The Stay

One of the reasons we stayed in Manitowoc was because everything in Green Bay had sold out extremely fast! However, I managed to discover Harbor Town Inn and new that it would be a great place to stay. This place is perfect for quick stays. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are just the right size. If you are planning a longer stay then you may find the rooms a bit small, however, we were only in ours long enough to sleep, so it was perfect.

The Inn pulls off the maritime vibe effortlessly. They have complimentary breakfast in their cute breakfast room. A small fitness area and laundry room. The place has everything you need but is designed for short stays. It is very affordable and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Harborside Restaurant

We were pretty hungry by the time we made it to our hotel. I looked up places to eat that were close by and Harborside was one of the few restaurants that was still open. As soon as you walk in, you find yourself in a very dimly-lit bar area. We were seated in a different area with better lighting.

My husband decided he wanted a cheeseburger and I found one of my favorites, a fish sandwich. We did not have to wait long for our food to come out. We were both surprised at how big the portions were. My husband said that his burger was good, but that it needed a bit more flavor. My fish sandwich was just okay. I got the impression that it was just nuked in a microwave before being brought out. However, we were hungry and it was late to be at the restaurant, so we were happy with what we had.

Memorial Walk

The next morning before heading to Green Bay, we went down by the Wisconsin Maritime Museum that sits on Lake Michigan. There was a 28-boat memorial walk in honor of the individuals that constructed the 28 freshwater submarines during World War II. My husband loves history and he really enjoyed seeing the submarines and reading about them, as did I.

Green Bay

We then made our way to Green Bay for the game. It was so great being back at Lambeau Field and watching my husband experience it for the first time. I love the history of the Packers and the stadium. It is so much fun to be part of the tailgating and events before the game.

The Packers lost the game, but it was okay because I got to see Brett Favre at Lambeau Field for one last time.

Ryan’s on York

We had another late dinner in Manitowoc that night. This time we went to a place called Ryan’s on York. There was only one person in the kitchen, so you had a little bit of wait for food, but it was well worth it! My husband and I bring this place up often as one of our favorite places that we have eaten at on our trips. My husband likes to say that he would go back to Manitowoc just to eat there.

They had a lot of interesting dishes to choose from. We decided to get a starter of Cajun fries that were delicious! It had just the right amount of heat and the sauce that was drizzled on the fries was addicting. They had other fries to choose from including Garlic Parm fries, Greek fries, and Smoky fries. We also got a starter of Meat Meltaways. This was crispy pork pieces from the ends of smoked pork shoulder. They were so tender and had so much flavor. If I ever go back, I am definitely getting two orders of them.

My husband order a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with BBQ sauce, and claims it is the best sandwich he has ever eaten. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and I know that it was the best chicken sandwich that I have ever eaten. My chicken was perfectly breaded and had a bit of spice to it, but it seemed to enhance the flavor instead of overwhelming the sandwich.

Jenn’s Java

That morning before we left, we decided to stop by Jenn’s Java for breakfast. It was a beautiful little shop with plenty of trinkets and gifts available. My husband ordered the Breakfast Bagel and I ordered the Breakfast Wrap. We were surprised at the portion sizes, again. It was definitely what we needed to fill us up for our trip home.

My husband’s breakfast bagel was just egg and cheese on a toasted bagel, but you could add ham or bacon if you wanted. My breakfast wrap was egg, cheese, and tomato in a tomato-basil wrap. It was so delicious paired with a traditional cappuccino.

We enjoyed our short trip to Manitowoc. It was definitely worth it just to eat at Ryan’s on York. Seriously, it was that good!

Your way of describing all in this paragraph is really pleasant, every
one be able to without difficulty be aware of
it, Thanks a lot. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard
to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and
visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a very good
job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very fast for me on Chrome.
    Superb Blog! http://Aoc.com/
