Part one of our trip discussed our stay at the wonderful Inn at the Mill and a couple of restaurants. It was a lazy day and we just planned on staying at the hotel and resting for Day 2. Much more happened on the second day, so let’s get into it!

Museum of Native American History

Our first stop was the Museum of Native American History. It is a free, non-profit museum with self-guided tours. Upon entrance, there are three gigantic skeletons that form a 12,000 year old mammoth.

An amazing sight.

Before you start your journey, the staff will hand you a handheld guide that will tell you more about the exhibit as you advance through the museum. There are numbers on the walls that you can enter into your handheld guide at any time to learn more about the artifacts or Native American culture.

The museum has over 10,000 artifacts that are verified by a curator for complete authenticity. The exhibits were very interesting and well-done. The handheld guide was convenient and allowed you to go at your own pace. There is a gift shop at the end of the tour where you can purchase authentic Native American gifts. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I am glad that we decided to stop and educate ourselves a little more on Native American culture.

The Walmart Museum

Our second stop was the Walmart Museum. My husband and I had jokingly talked about going to this museum and then decided, “why not?” We were actually very surprised at how much we enjoyed it and how interesting it was.

The museum takes you through the life of Sam Walton and the successes of Walmart. One of my favorite sections was a “wall of returns.” They had items on the wall that were returned for some pretty ridiculous reasons, but Walmart allowed the return because they wanted to keep their customers happy.

A customer thought that this hand mixer was possessed.

There is a lot to learn and experience at this museum. It does a great job of combining interactive experiences, videos, and visuals to capture your attention. There are several places that encourage ‘selfies,’ so naturally, we had to take one with Sam Walton himself.

I think that this exhibit would surprise a lot of people. I was expecting it to be a lot of boring statistics about Walmart, but it was nothing like that. We both really enjoyed our time here and I would recommend that everyone stop and go through it at least once.

My husband’s favorite part of the exhibit.

I have decided to make a Part III to cover the Crystal Bridges Art Museum. I fell in love with this place immediately, and I cannot wait to share our experience with you all. Be sure to subscribe so you do not miss out!
