*All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

In the 1st part of Falling in Love with St.Louis, I discussed the amazing stay at Seven Gables Inn, the outrageous floats at Fitz’s, and the amazing atmosphere at Soulard Farmer’s Market.

The second day of our trip was filled with more good food, breath-taking sights, and some pretty adorable animals (my favorite)!

St.Louis Aquarium

First, we went to the St.Louis Aquarium. They are currently building a new and bigger aquarium that will be open in Winter 2019. I cannot wait to visit it. The aquarium we visited was small, so this new aquarium will be great for St.Louis. The room was full of reptiles and fish. You can pet the stingrays, feed the turtles, and hold the snakes if you want. I was fine with just petting the stingray. My husband fed the turtles. I did not get a picture of this because, well, I am terrified of turtles. It was a good experience, but it was lacking due to the small size.

Cathedral Basilica of St.Louis

One of the most beautiful things you can see in St.Louis is the Cathedral Basilica. You may have to wait if they are having a service, but it is worth it. While you wait, you can go downstairs to their own museum. It is full of interesting history. They also have a gift shop.

There are many beautiful sights outside of the cathedral, also.

Such a magnificent building
Beautiful koi pond

The inside is absolutely breath-taking. The ceiling is covered with millions of tiny mosaic tiles. The pictures do not do it justice.

I highly recommend that you make time for this when visiting St.Louis. I was so inspired by the Cathedral that I wrote my final paper on it in my Architecture class. You will not regret stopping by here.

The Shaved Duck

For lunch, we stopped by The Shaved Duck. I had watched an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives that featured this restaurant and new I had to go there. They have award-winning BBQ, but I went for the duck.

We started with the smothered fries. This is what I saw on Triple D and the main reason I suggested eating here. They did not disappoint. With pulled rib and pork meat over hand-cut fries topped with cheese sauce and freshly grated sharp cheddar, what’s not to love?

Look at all of that cheesy goodness. My mouth is watering!

There was so much to choose from, and the decision was tough, but we ended up ordering the Duck Confit & Smoked Mozzarella Flatbread. It was topped with spinach, dried cranberries, sweet bourbon drizzle, and the duck and mozzarella, of course. I have never had a flatbread that tasty in my life. My husband was a little nervous about trying it because he is not a fan of cranberries, but he loved it. There was such a depth of flavor. We were very satisfied with our visit.

Delicious!

We did so much on our first trip to St. Louis that I have to make a Part III of this post. In the next post, I’ll discuss Grant’s Farm and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Be sure to check it out!
