Hey everyone,

My husband is an Army veteran. I am so proud of everything he did and the sacrifices he made for this great country. So, when Veteran’s Day started approaching, I wanted to make sure to make it special for him. I bought him a few patriotic t-shirts and a gift from our hummingbird, but I always like to make him something as well. It just seems more special to me to make something with my own hands. I had no idea what I wanted to do until I saw a beautiful wreath on Pinterest. I knew I had to make it myself!

It was super easy! Here is what the finished project looked like:

I love how it turned out! My husband loved it, too!

Want to make it yourself? Here is how:

I ordered my fabric from Amazon. The army fabric looked like this:

I bought the Army fabric here for only $8.98. One order equals one yard of fabric which was plenty for this project.

Now, for the stripes, you could order red and white fabric separately and then alternate the colors on your wreath, OR you could save time and just order red and white striped fabric like I did. For the blue and stars, you could just order blue fabric and then find stars to place on them, OR you could just order blue fabric with stars on them like I did.  Here is what both fabrics looked like:

I both the red and white striped fabric here for $5.97, and I bought the blue fabric with stars here for $5.49.

Once you have all of your fabric, you simply cut them into strips of about 3 inches long and 1 inch thick. My strips varied in length because I did not measure. I think making some shorter and some longer gave the wreath more depth, also. When you are cutting the red and white stripe fabric, make sure that you cut vertically so that it will look like flag stripes. Here is an example:

I made sure each piece had white and red on it. Once you have your strips cut, you simply tie them around the wring of the wreath once; like the first step of tying your shoe. I used a green wire wreath that I bought from Michaels. If you sign up on their website, they will send you coupons. I often get a coupon for 50% off of a regular priced item. I used this for the wreath which made it super cheap! It was a 16 inch wire wreath that looked like this:

As you can see, there are four wires separated into seven sections. I tied the blue fabric with stars onto the first section of the wreath on all four of the rings in that section. You just keep tying until it is filled. I tied the red and white striped fabric on the next two sections. Again, just keep tying until the sections are full and there are no visible spaces. Finally, I tied the Army fabric on the rest of the sections. It was simple and turned out great, but it could get a little boring just tying the fabric constantly. It is very repetitive. I found a movie on TV and watched it while I worked which made it much less boring.

This is an easy way to make a beautiful wreath and there are so many possibilities with it! School colors, sports teams, holiday colors…endless possibilities!

Let me know if you tried this tutorial. If you have any questions, just leave me a comment and I will answer them to the best of my abilities. I would also love to see pictures of your finished projects!
