About Octobo
Octobo is a cute, octopus plush robot that comes with several accessories that complete the experience. We received the Expanded Everything Pack which includes an Octobo Plush Robot, the Underwater Adventure Storybook, The Great Letter Search Storybook, a total of 32 Interactive Tokens, Octobo’s Big City Adventure Storybook (includes 6 reusable dry erase Discovery Cards), Digital Play Guide and three Octobo Apps (Octobo Storytime Play, Octobo Audiobook, Octobo Fun and Games).
Interactive tokens can be placed on Octobo’s bowl to make him come to life and interact with you. These tokens work alongside the storybooks to create an immersive experience for your child. In “Octobo and The Great Letter Search” storybook, your child will search for hidden letters and use the interactive tokens to show animation and play fun games with Octobo. In “Octobo’s Big City Adventure” storybook, your child will discover the city’s hidden secrets and build their own additions to the story with the help of interactive Discovery Cards. I think it is a lovely combo that both my two and four-year-old can find something really interesting that they can engage with.
Meet Octobo
Octobo is a soft, brightly-colored octopus that my kids have already grown to love! Octobo first caught my attention with how interactive it is. Octobo responds to handshakes and hugs with a love face, and even a laughing face when your child tickles him. My almost-two-year-old is not as vocal as his sister. My main hope with bringing Octobo into our family was that it would be able to get my son to be more vocal. I love that it also teaches basics like letters of the alphabet. It is also great to know that he will not outgrow this toy any time soon. There is plenty of advancing to be done as my son grows.
It is also a great toy because it is one that is fun for my four-year-old as well. She is able to learn and play with the more advanced options like Octobo’s Big City Adventure storybook. She was thrilled with how interactive Octobo was and loves the musical games. I love that it is reinforcing things that she has already learned and introducing her to new concepts like early literacy skills. It even has a story-telling mode and an audiobook app that is perfect for when I need them to calm down for a bit.
Learning with Octobo
There are many ways you can learn with Octobo! Spelling games allow the kids to practice phonemic awareness skills with over 80 unique words in Octobo’s fun-filled games with the Great Letter Search Story Kit. This is perfect for reinforcing what my four-year-old is learning in pre-k right now! It is also a great way to introduce the alphabet to my youngest. My son loves how Octobo interacts with his hugs and pokes. My daughter loves the fun games in the Octobo Fun and Games app that she can play with Octobo; like the memory games and the color mixing game, and loves interacting with the tokens. Since Octobo grows with our children, it will be in our family for years to come!
