I knew when I first became pregnant that I wanted to stay home and raise my children if possible. Thankfully, God has been allowing me to do just that. I also have a great desire to be able to teach my children here at home. I have been able to start some early learning with our daughter, and it has been a blast! I truly love watching her learn. Today I want to talk about The Good and the Beautiful homeschool curriculum. They were kind enough to gift us the Level K Primer Course Set, Beginner Book Boxes, and Doodles Handwriting.

How it Started

The Good and the Beautiful was founded in 2015 by Christian singer-songwriter Jenny Phillips. She was unable to find a curriculum that she loved. She wanted a curriculum that:

  • Used completely clean and powerful literature
  • Combined subjects for more meaningful learning and shorter school times
  • Was completely open-and-go
  • Was academically strong and very thorough
  • Emphasized God, nature, and high character
  • Was visually beautiful, engaging, and meaningful

She decided that with her writing, editing, and teaching experience; her deep love of good literature; and the means from her sales of over one million CDs, that she could create the curriculum she wanted. Jenny put together a team of specialists and took two years of deep research, development, and testing before she released her first two levels of language arts. It was released on her music website for free, as she had created it mainly for her own children and had no intention of starting a homeschool curriculum company. The free downloads spread like crazy, with hundreds of thousands of people downloading the curriculum.

Three years after launching, The Good and the Beautiful now has over 90 products, is housed in a 15,000-foot warehouse, and is run by a talented group of over 70 people, headed by Jenny and her husband, who keep their team laser-focused on the mission of The Good and the Beautiful. The curriculum is used by many thousands of families across the world.

Three-Fold Mission

The Good and the Beautiful has a three-fold mission:

  • To teach advanced academics while connecting children to the good and the beautiful in life and in learning
  • To make homeschooling less overwhelming and time consuming for the student and the instructor
  • To offer affordable resources of the highest quality, making homeschooling economical and accessible

What Makes It Unique?

  • The curriculum emphasizes family, God, high character, nature, and wholesome literature
  • It requires no daily prep time. You simply open the book and follow the instructions, learning and exploring along with your child
  • Family Style- History, Science, and Electives
  • Combines various subjects, which connects learning and eliminates the need for six to seven different courses
  • Thorough phonics reading program creates excellent readers
  • Thorough and advanced courses leave no gaps
